About Us

Inception:

In 2005, with the support of the global Partnership for Child Nutrition that brought together Unilever, UNICEF India and Synergos Institute, a tri-sectoral partnership, Bhavishya Alliance, was created in India with the goal of contributing to halving the rate of child under nutrition by 2015, with an emphasis on children between the ages 0-3

Bhavishya Alliance rests on the principle that effective multisectoral partnerships between Government, Corporate and Civil Society can co-create solutions for addressing the complex problem of child under nutrition and can make a major contribution to radically reducing the prevailing rates in India..

Bhavishya Alliance was established as a trust in 2006 and has on its board, representatives from Hindustan Unilever, Tata Industries, ICICI Bank and HDFC. Bhavishya Alliance’s leadership on policy and programmatic direction is provided by a Governing Council which includes the Trustees and Prominent Individuals from the Government, NGO and Corporate Sectors

Goals

  • To contribute to reducing severe (Grade III & IV) malnutrition in the intervention areas by 90% by 2008; and moderate and mild malnutrition by 50% by 2015.
  • To demonstrate the working of a Multi-Sectoral Alliance in the design, implementation and governance of programs
